Local produce and food miles


The Oyster Box is committed to being a sustainable business and is passionate about adhering to best practice in all links in the food chain, from sourcing to preparation to presentation. By sourcing locally wherever possible to limit the food miles incurred, the distance food travels from sea or field to plate is kept to a minimum. There is no need to travel far afield for produce when some of the most gorgeous natural products, from potatoes and dairy to seafood and meat, are readily available on Jersey’s doorstep.

As part of The Oyster Box sustainable business practice, the way produce is used and chosen is as responsible as possible. As members of the Marine Conservation Society, the owners of the Oyster Box are committed to promoting the use of sustainable seafood choices to consumers to protect fish stocks for the future and to tackle over-exploitation of marine resources by working to achieve ecologically sustainable management of activities.
